House of the Dragon Star Milly Alcock on Playing Rhaenyra Targaryen: “It Was Incredibly Intimidating”

Milly Alcock faced immense pressure before the House of the Dragon. Across four episodes, the 22-year-old Australian actress was the star of the show, getting the most screen time while portraying the character of Rhaenyra Targaryen. Alcock was joining an expanding franchise with one of the largest fanbases in the world; who were all waiting to see how HBO is a long-awaited game of thrones benefits would be equitable.

Alcock would only play the character for half of the first season before Emma D’Arcy replaced the young actress as an older version of her same character. Nevertheless, Alcock was commissioned to direct House of the Dragon through its first episodes alongside Matt Smith, Paddy Considine, and Emily Carey. The cast has done an outstanding job so far. However, Alcock admits the series was quite intimidating at first. During an interview with Nylon, she said, “But the first two or three months, I just thought I was going to get fired constantly. »

“It was incredibly new, exciting and daunting, because I’ve only ever done Australian TV, so the budgets are hugely different, they’re not in the same league. It was just a shock, [to see] it was a way of making cinema and television. I didn’t really understand how huge something like this could be until I got on set, and I was mortified. You adapt quickly and everything becomes completely normal. But the first two, three months, I just thought I was going to get fired constantly. It was incredibly intimidating. »

Thankfully, HBO stuck with Alcock because she was a terrific addition to the thrones universe so far.

Milly Alcock has been in the entertainment industry for almost a decade, although House of the Dragon is the most notable project for her throughout her young career. She started out in a small role in Wonderland before playing the role of Isabella Barrett in high life in 2017. She will then appear in Janet King in a small role of Cindi Jackson before appearing in the TV movie, school. Other credits include Trou de pin, Le Glowinget Account.

Now that she has achieved worldwide fame with House of the Dragon, Alcock admits it has been quite a change. In her interview with Nylon, she says, “I see my face all the time, it tires me. Nobody should have to do that. It really sucks, man. She continues, “I don’t know how the socialites of the world can do that. It makes me slip. It’s an incredibly difficult space to navigate. Although the fame of being on one of the most popular television series in the world can be a bit overwhelming, Alcock has clearly enjoyed his time with the show.
