In an interview with TVLine, Executive producers Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker have revealed some details about the adult animated series ending. Regarding Yvi and Harley’s romance, they stressed that splitting up the couple was never an option.

« I remember when we aired this story, we wanted to make sure the episode wasn’t like, “Are they going to break up?” So we ended this scene where they fight Ivy by saying, “I’m going to Costco, just text me if you need anything.” Because that’s how a lot of real married couples and close relationship fights end, where it’s like you’re fighting, but there’s also errands to be had. We wanted to take the pressure off a bit and show you that it’s just two people in a good relationship arguing.Halpern explained.

For his part, Schumacker added:I also think Harley has taught Ivy over time, more than anyone, to empathize with humanity on some level. He’s able to control her a bit when she goes off the rails, like he does this season in his supervillain. I think it’s an element that holds them together, that Ivy changed for the better and became more three-dimensional thanks to Harley.”.
