Who is the “Watcher” in real life

Who is the

Shortly after its premiere, on October 13, 2022, “Vigilant” (“The Watcher” in its original language) has positioned itself in the Top 10 of the most popular series on Netflix. Among other things, due to its captivating story based on real events that were first published in an article in The Cut of the same name in 2018.

While in fiction starring Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale, Nora and Dean Brannock begin to receive disturbing letters after moving to their dream home in New Jersey, in real life, in 2014, Derek and Maria Broaddus have experienced the same situation after buying a €1.3 million property at 657 Boulevard in Westfield.

According to reports, theVigilant ” wrote: ” Boulevard 657 has been the subject of my family for decades, and as it nears its 110th anniversary, I have been tasked to watch and await its second coming. My grandfather watched the house in the 1920s and my father saw it in the 1960s. Now it’s my turn. Do you know what’s inside the walls of 657 Boulevard? Why are you here? i will know”.

But undoubtedly the scariest part of the letter is: Will young blood play in the basement? Or are they too scared to go alone? I would be very scared if I were them. It’s far from the rest of the house. If you were up high, you’d never hear them scream”.

Just six months after buying their dream home, the Broadduses put it up for sale, but it didn’t sell immediately due to letters from ‘The Watcher’.. Meanwhile, the stalker also threatened to kill them: “Maybe a car accident. Maybe a fire. Maybe something as simple as a mild illness”. So who was responsible for the terrifying letters?

Despite ongoing investigations, theVigilant” was never identified or captured. However, there are suspects. The first was Michael Langfordone of his neighbors, since a former FBI profiler concluded he was “someone in his 50s or 60s.”

However, when a DNA test revealed that the person handling the cards was female, authorities investigated Michael’s sister, Abby Langford, but found no matches. They also compared the samples with those of Andrea Woods, the house’s former owner, and with Maria Broaddus herself, but to no avail.

Another theory is that the Watcher might be a competing buyer, since the 657 Boulevard home was one of the largest and most admired in the coveted neighborhood. Therefore, some believe the letters were sent by someone who couldn’t buy the house or wanted to get it at a lower price.

Ultimately, the Broadduses were named as guilty. Some neighbors are convinced that Derek and Maria wrote the letters to sell the property or get a movie contract.

So far, the identity of the “Vigilante” is not known, but investigations are continuing (Photo: Netflix)
