The new iPad Pro 11 2022 will probably come without a mini LED display

The 2022 iPad Pro 11, which is still expected in October, will likely have the same Liquid Retina display as its predecessor. Hopes of a mini-LED display like the larger iPad Pro 12.9 have once again been dashed by an analyst.

Analyst and display expert Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants doesn’t think Apple will equip the upcoming iPad Pro 11 with a mini-LED display. He reiterates his prediction from March that Apple would have no reason to introduce another tablet with a mini-LED display in 2022, as the 2021 12.9-inch iPad Pro continues to sell well. The different screens are also a good differentiator between the two Pro models.

The iPad Pro 12.9 mini LED display can do it

So if you want to reap the benefits of the mini LED display, you’ll probably still have to opt for the bigger and more expensive model. The iPad Pro 12.9 was introduced in 2021 with a “Liquid Retina XDR” display that can shine across the entire screen area with 1,000 nits of brightness in HDR mode. The maximum brightness of HDR highlights in certain parts of the screen is 1,600 nits. For comparison, the previous model only managed around 600 nits.

New iPad Pro models via press release instead of event?

However, the new iPad Pro 11 2022 will still receive some updates. The biggest innovation will undoubtedly be the M2 chip, which is supposed to power the Apple tablet. New charging options are also being discussed. The new 11-inch model is slated to premiere in October – with the iPad Pro 12.9 successor starting in 2021. However, Bloomberg editor Mark Gurman isn’t expecting a digital unveiling event. Instead, Apple is expected to announce the two iPads through a press release.
