Apple’s AirPods are popular, but now there’s a whole line of headphones that are just as fun as an AirPods alternative. We reveal which four wireless devices are recommended for music and sports.

The JLab JBuds Air Pro wireless in-ear headphones are a good alternative to Apple’s AirPods Pro and are also cheaper. The in-ears sit comfortably in the ear and are very comfortable to wear. The JBuds Air Pro come with three pairs of silicone tips in different sizes, and they also come with ‘Cush Fin’ tips, which should ensure an even better fit.

In addition to being comfortable to wear, good in-ear headphones should also sound good. The sound of the JLab JBuds Air Pro is clear, and the deep bass is particularly impressive. In the JLab Sound app, you can use the equalizer to optimize the sound. Another strong point of in-ear headphones is battery life. Once fully charged, the Air Pro lasts up to nine hours. This makes them ideal for your workouts on the go. Moreover, in my opinionProtection class P55 protected against dust and splashing water.

JLab’s in-ear headphones have a few useful features on board. With Bluetooth Multipoint, the headphones can connect to up to two devices at the same time without having to pair them again. The audio channel will be changed automatically. The JBuds Air Pro are controlled via touch input or voice input with Siri or the Google Assistant. Active noise cancellation (ANC) like AirPods the JBuds Air Pro do not.

The new Jabra Elite 5 are a serious competitor to Apple’s AirPods. In addition to a rich sound experience, the Elite 5 features hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). With that Ambient noise is particularly reduced and you can fully concentrate on your music or podcasts. Do you want to better perceive your environment? Jabra has equipped the Elite 5 with HearThrough technology. You can access it in the Jabra Sound+ app or change the sound with the equalizer.

The Jabra Elite 5 sits comfortably in the ear and comes with three pairs of silicone EarGels in sizes S, M and L. As well as being comfortable to wear, the in-ear headphones are distinguished by a decent battery life of up to seven hours. Enough time to take a bike ride or take the bus/train to work. Thanks to the fast charging function, the Elite 5 has a battery for an hour in just ten minutes. Plus they’re after isProtection class P55 protected against splashing water and dust.

With Bluetooth Multipoint, you can easily switch between two devices without having to re-pair the Elite 5. For example, if you are watching a movie on your tablet and receive a call on your smartphone, the audio channel will be changed automatically. The operation works via conventional buttons on the outside of the helmet. The headphones are also compatible with Amazon Alexa, Siri and Google Assistant. With the Spotify Tab feature, you can even directly access your Spotify playlist with just the press of a button.

the JBL Live Pro 2 are great in-ear headphones for on the go, at home or in the office. The wireless Bluetooth earplugs convince with good sound and deep bass. Thanks to the included earplugs in three different sizes, you can choose the size that suits you best. Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) lets you enjoy your music without distracting background noise. This is also an advantage during calls. With the Smart Ambient function, on the other hand, you can perceive the environment more intensively.

The Live Pro 2’s battery life is the same as the JBuds Air Pro: once fully charged, the earbuds last up to nine hours. Practical: thanks to the quick charge function, you have the battery again for four hours of battery life in 15 minutes. By the way, dust and water splashes do not bother the Live Pro 2. The in-ear chics are certified with protection class IPX5.

Operation of the JBL Live Pro 2 works either intuitively via touch input or with your voice. The Live Pro 2 are compatible with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. With the multipoint connection, you can connect up to two Bluetooth devices at the same time without having to pair the headphones again and again. You can find more settings in the associated My JBL Headphones app. For example, you can use a beep to find your ears if you’ve lost them.

The Google Pixel Buds A-Series are the perfect in-ear headphones for on the go. Ear studs sit comfortably and firmly in the ear. Depending on the size of the ear, you can choose from three different stud earrings. Practical: delivery includes a adjustable stabilizer bar. This gives you an even more comfortable grip. The Pixel Buds A-Series are also protected against splashes of water and perspiration according to the IPX4 certification.

Google’s in-ear headphones impress with spacious and rich sound. However, the battery performance isn’t as strong as the other in-ear headphones in our comparison: once fully charged, they last up to five hours. The in-ear headphones can be controlled either by touch input or via Google Assistant with an Android smartphone. In the Google Pixel Buds app, you can set up the Google Assistant, among other things.

However, if you’re relying on big extras like active noise cancellation (ANC) or Bluetooth multipoint, you’ll be disappointed. Although the Google Pixel Buds A-Series do not support both functions, they are significantly cheaper than Apple’s AirPods.
