3 easy ways to beat a migraine at home

Do you suffer from migraines? Then you are not alone. These continuous and severe headaches are unique in their discomfort. If you’ve never had a migraine, you’re in luck – they often leave you with no choice but to lie down in a dark room. If you have a bad habit of having regular migraines, you should see a medical professional.

What you can also do, however, is try this quick and easy trick. It can make a big difference in your ability to cope with and even prevent migraines. This simple home treatment plan can help relieve the most severe impact of a migraine.

Change your working conditions

The first thing that can cause migraines is your workspace. If you work in a crowded, busy area with lots of fluorescent lighting, for example, you could be contributing to your migraines. So you should try to change where you work. This minor tweak can make sure you’re much more likely to get a good break from your migraines.

Adjust your posture and positioning

Your posture plays a surprisingly important role in your ability to avoid migraines. If you happen to have a lot of migraines, you should try to adjust your posture. It may mean having to invest in a new chair, but it’s worth it. Your posture, especially when you’re slouching, can contribute to your migraines starting or lasting longer.

Sleep better and reduce your caffeine intake

A big problem for many migraine sufferers is that they simply drink too much tea and/or coffee. You should try switching to a decaf edition and see if that works for you. You might also find it beneficial to set a “coffee schedule” in that you simply have a coffee – a maximum of two per day – at the same time and in the same amount.

This gets your body used to the impact of caffeine and helps you avoid those surprise spikes. Another factor is your rest; if you don’t sleep properly, your body will feel the effects negatively. Good quality sleep is something that can help reduce the severity and/or impact of your migraines. Avoid going to bed too late and avoid distractions such as TV and mobile devices for about 60-90 minutes before trying to go to bed.
