Exclusive: Lee You-mi wins an Emmy for “Squid Game”

On Monday, Lee You-mi, who played Ji-Yeong in the worldwide hit “Squid Game” on Netflix, took home the Emmy for most outstanding guest actress in a drama series.

Marcia Gay Harden from “The Morning Show,” Martha Kelly from “Euphoria,” Hope Davis, Sanaa Lathan, and Harriet Walter from “Succession,” as well as Lee, were also nominated in this category.

The “Squid Game” is breaking new ground at the 2022 Emmys!

The 74th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards were presented at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on September 4 (local time).

With her performance in the episode “Gganbu,” Lee Yoo Mi became the first Korean actress to receive the award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series. Hope Davis (“Succession”), Marcia Gay Harden (“The Morning Show”), Martha Kelly (“Euphoria”), Sanaa Lathan (“Succession”), and Harriet Walter (“Succession”) were the other candidates in this category.

The actress said during her victory speech, “I’m really appreciative. I appreciate you so much for honoring me with this award. I appreciate the Emmy Awards, Netflix, which is constantly at my side, and VARO Entertainment, my agency. I’m so ecstatic! Thank you one more.

Lee Yoo Mi also said, “I’m really thrilled and I can’t believe it,” after earning the award. I can’t wait to share and gloat with my close pals. Thank you a lot! The actress added that the cheerful emoji perfectly captures how she is feeling right now and that she will display her new prize in a place where she can see it easily.

The awards for Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Single Episode, Outstanding Stunt Performance, and Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Contemporary Program were also given to “Squid Game” (One Hour or More).

The 74th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which take place before the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards on September 12 and celebrate the cast and production crew, award the best artists and technical excellence in television. For the upcoming Primetime Emmy Awards, “Squid Game” has received six more nominations. These include Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series, Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series, Lead Actor in a Drama Series (Lee Jung Jae), Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (Jung Ho Yeon), and Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (Park Hae Soo, Oh Young Soo).
