Netflix Is Dominating With A Forgotten Chris Hemsworth Fantasy Film

Chris Hemsworth’s first blockbuster was the 2012 fantasy movie Snow White and the Huntsman. The film also featured Kristen Stewart as the title character, as well as Charlize Theron in the role of her evil stepmother, Queen Ravenna. The film was ultimately an unpopular box office hit, with a global total in the range of $396.9 million. Although Stewart and Hemsworth have both starred in the film, Hemsworth and Stewart have appeared in various other projects, and Netflix subscribers have been watching the 2012 fantasy film in large quantities. As per Flix Patrol, the film is among the top 10 on the Netflix charts, with an average of six and seven marks. The latest news comes following Hemsworth’s appearance as Thor as part of the Marvel film Thor: Love & Thunder. Hemsworth has also appeared on other Netflix projects as well and was featured prominently in the sequel released in 2016, The Huntsman: Winter’s War. His popularity has grown from his character in Eric the Huntsman, who assists Stewart’s Snow White escape Queen Ravenna in the first film.

The film didn’t get a lot of reviews from the public when it premiered in cinemas. It received a score of 49 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and was described by some as mediocre. The New York Times was awed by Theron’s performance and described the film, at times “mesmerizing.” Chris Hemsworth’s portrayal of the Huntsman did not leave much of an impression. It’s interesting that the film came out the same summer as “The Avengers” by Marvel. The Avengers was more successful in terms of theatrical success than Hemsworth’s career. In the case of Stewart’s film, she decided not to return for the sequel in 2012. In an interview with Variety Stewart stated she chose not to make the trip due to issues about the story. The actress later said that she found out that the sequel was moving forward without her when she read an announcement. The news didn’t affect the faith of Stewart who stated that she’d been in contact to the company behind the movie for a number of months.

Even though Kristen Stewart departed from the project, Chris Hemsworth would continue. The studio focused the sequel around his character as well as returning Charlize Theron’s character, Queen Ravenna. The sequel offered Hemsworth another film to star in following his appearance as Thor, the Mighty Thor, The film ended up being an unpopular box office hit. The film only made $44.8 million in its opening weekend and a global sum of $165 million against a budget of just $115 million. According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, the film’s studio lost at least $75 million. In terms of the reaction from critics, this sequel received a lower score than the original on Rotten Tomatoes, with a rating of 20 percent. The Rotten Tomatoes website majority deemed it to be an “unnecessary sequel.” The Huntsman: Winter’s War was just one year before Chris Hemsworth would be seen on screen in Thor: Ragnarok for Marvel.

Its recent popularity in Snow White and the Huntsman may be the result of Chris Hemsworth appearing in so many other Netflix projects. He was a part of the action film 2020 Extraction, which was made by Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo. The story revolves around the story of an Australian Black Ops mercenary whose goal is to rescue the son of an Indian drug lord. Extraction was hugely popular with both the public and critics. The film received praise mostly for its action scenes. In terms of the number of viewers, Extraction was seen by approximately 90 million viewers in the first month of its release which makes it the largest debut for Netflix’s streaming platform. Netflix also announced that 99 million people were able to watch the film within its initial four weeks of release. Variety stated that it was the fourth most watched streaming film in 2020. The success of the original film led Netflix to approve another sequel.

Apart from his involvement in Netflix productions, Chris Hemsworth has other blockbuster films in the pipeline. Of course, plenty of people are eagerly awaiting his next appearance in the role of The Mighty Thor. Marvel hadn’t announced a new Thor film at the time of their Comic-Con panel. Based on the final credits sequence of Thor: The Dark World, it’s possible that Thor is coming back in an enormous way. As well as Thor, Hemsworth is also involved in the coming Mad Max spinoff film, Angry. The spinoff will be focused on the beginnings of Furiosa, which Charlize Theron played in the 2015 film Mad Max: Fury Road. We’re still not sure of the name of the angry character; however, he is expected to be an antagonist in the film.
