For the past three years Jason Momoa has starred as Baba Voss, the fierce and stubborn lead of Apple TV+’s post-apocalyptic drama. See, A show that has been criminally flown under so many radars must have a contract with the Air Force. See It was one of the first original shows to debut on Apple’s streaming service, and now Epic is only three episodes away from ending its saga. Our society collapses long before the events of See, from a deadly disease that kills most people on Earth and blinds the few living. Untold centuries later, blindness is the status quo for humanity and some who are born with sight are called witches, the entire army of witchfinders brutally murdered not only those they suspected of being able to see But no one had the confidence to hide them. Jason Momoa’s Baba Vos is the head of the Alkeni tribe, who finds himself beset when she gives birth to twins, seen by Baba’s wife Maghara (Hera Himmler).

I don’t want to spoil too much for you; The births of Kofun (Archie Madekewe) and Haniwa (Nesta Cooper) change everything for Jason Momoa’s protagonist, his family, and all of Alkeni. Baba Voss and his family are joined by near-psychic Paris (Alfre Woodard) and the fiery warrior of few words, Bo Lion (Yadira Guevara-Prip). Hunting them down for the insane dictator Queen Kane (Sylvia Hoakes) is the ruthless Tamacti Jun (Christian Camargo), the witchfinder general of the Kingdom of Paya.

It would not be unreasonable to mention See as “game of Thrones-light,” but only if you understand that I mean “light” in the truest sense. See There’s graphic sex and a lot of graphic violence, but you never lose sight of whether this show is all for you. It doesn’t take on the narrative the way it often does game of Thrones– To the point where you’re honestly wondering what the difference is between Westeros and softcore porn.

violence of See Not only is it quite bloody—Jason Momoa’s Baba Voss finds the ways you want to kill the least and performs them with style—but it highlights the incredible world-building at work on the show. See Clearly portrays a society built under the notion of lack of vision, and yet you never find yourself thinking that its characters are at a disadvantage. The first time you see the confrontation between Witchfinder and Alkeni, you’ll lose all doubt that these characters need vision in order to fight like monsters.

Honestly, when it comes to the battlefield, Jason Momoa’s Baba Voss makes Khal Drago like cupcakes. Of course, once some of the show’s most-watched characters get into the action, they enjoy some benefits that others don’t; Especially when it comes to range weapons. But you’re never fooled into thinking that a fight between a sighted character and a blind one is a sure thing for the former.

In the most recent episode in the final season, for example, Saw Kofun leaves a bar and the bartender uses a few different tappings to let his friends know that a “witch” is on the way. Kofun discovers what was happening just before the attack, but he is still moments away from slitting his throat when his father, Baba Vos, steps in to save him.

One of the best reasons to watch a Jason Momoa epic is the talent on display. Sylvia Hoax’s Queen Kane will very quickly become one of your favorite villains to hate, and Christian Camargo’s ruthless Tamacti June will surprise you with her character changes.

Season 2 introduces a lot of great character/actor combos to the Jason Momoa-led series, chief among them Dave Bautista as Baba Voss’ younger brother- Traventian General Edo and If Guardians of the Galaxy The star has made a more impressive presence in any screen project then I haven’t seen it. This is also the season when we meet Tom Misson as Lord Harlan — a sort of Littlefinger-esque character but with a big heart — with Hun Lee as Kofun’s unforgiving Witchfinder advisor Todd, and Olivia Cheung Haniwa. As well as the sweet and brutally honest savior Charlotte.
