On the recent episode of the Duchess’s podcast, Markle opened up about the reasons she quit her job on Deal or No Deal in 2006. According to her, she felt like she was being reduced “to a fool” on the game show.
Despite admitting that she is really “grateful” to have a job that allowed her to pay her bills, she said she felt her role had “little substance”.
“I ended up leaving the show. It was much more than what was objectified on stage”, he declared. “I didn’t like feeling forced to be all appearance and little substance, and so I felt at the time reduced to this specific archetype: the word ‘dumb’.”.
The former actress, who is about to release her documentary on Netflix alongside Prince Harry, claimed the job didn’t align with her values. Moreover, she affirms that there was a certain imprint of objectifying women.
She states that “I was surrounded by smart women“, though “that was not the approach” of the program. Recalling, Meghan said that women “lined up” to receive eyelashes, hair extensions, padding for their bras and more, just because the production had a “standard idea” of what they should look like.

Whoopi Goldberg, actress and presenter, pointed to the duchess reminding her that she knew what she was getting into. “When you are an artist, you accept the concert”, he said on The View. “We are not journalists. We are actors. We’re trying to get to another place”.
