‘Thank God’ embroiled in controversies before release, accused of hurting religious sentiments, case registered

The trailer of Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan and Siddharth Malhotra’s film ‘Thank God‘ has been released recently. Ajay Devgan is going to be seen in the role of Modern Chitragupta in this film. At the same time, after the release of the trailer, the film has been embroiled in controversies.

A case has been registered against Ajay Devgan and Siddharth Malhotra for hurting religious sentiments. A case has been registered against the director and actors of the film in Jaunpur, UP. Advocate Himanshu Srivastava has filed a case against Inder Kumar, Ajay Devgan and Siddharth Malhotra for hurting the sentiments of Hindu religion.

According to the petitioner, the trailer of the film that has been released makes fun of Hinduism and hurts religious sentiments. He said, Ajay Devgan is seen playing the character of Chitragupta wearing a suit and in one scene he is seen cracking jokes and using objectionable language.

The petition states that Chitragupta is believed to be the god of karma and keeps a record of a man’s good and bad deeds. Such depiction of deities can create an unpleasant situation as it hurts religious sentiments. The complainant feels that the purpose of making this film is to spread hatred against a community.

Directed by Inder Kumar, ‘Thank God’ is slated to hit the theaters on October 24. Apart from Ajay Devgan and Siddharth Malhotra, Rakul Preet Singh is in the lead role in this film. The film also has an item song by Nora Fatehi.
