The following contains spoilers for One Piece Chapter 1060, “Luffy’s Dream” by Eiichiro Oda, Stephen Paul and Vanessa Satone, available in English from Viz Media.
one pieceChapter 1059 gives readers a good idea of what is happening to the other big-name characters after Kaido and Big Mom are torn from their four emperor seats. The chapter first shows the Red Hair Pirates leaving Marco in Whitebeard’s hometown, then transferring to Amazon Lily. A flashback shows a Navy fleet raiding the island to arrest the former chieftain.
As the army of female warriors begins to weaken, Blackbeard appears and rescues them from the Navy. However, his rescue comes at a cost. He attempts to take away Hancock’s power, only to fail to do so when Silver Rayleigh and company make their entrance. The chapter ends with the Revolutionary Army learning of Sabo’s alleged murder of King Cobra and Sabo calling his comrades.
Chapter 1060 begins with Luffy shouting his disbelief over the alleged murder of his brother. He is convinced that Sabo will not harm Vivi’s father, a claim that Nico Robin readily supports. Robin further reiterates that the enemy of the revolutionary army is the world noble and not the king. Because of this, Luffy hastily decides to change his destination, although Zoro luckily manages to keep his captain under control. The Luffy isn’t the only distressed straw hat. His teammates are either worried about their friend Vivi or about the alleged murder of King Cobra.
All the controversy settles when Zorro reveals that Vivi is a strong woman who can figure out her own problems. Although Zoro managed to pacify his friends, it came at a heavy price – his crew members call him by various names. Robin then gives a detailed account of what has happened during the battle in Wano, namely: the abolition of the Warlord System, the creation of the Cross Guild, and Buggy being crowned as one of the Four Emperors.
After all is said and done, Luffy casually decides that Sabo is innocent. He argues that since Sabo was raised in a controlled household, he wants everyone to be free. Luffy also reminds him on an oath that he supposedly did it to both Sabo and Ace. Even though the chapter doesn’t explain what Rubber Man dreams of, Straw Hats’ responses suggest that Luffy’s dream is both ridiculous and surprising. Shocked by the reactions of his team, Luffy realizes that he has not shared his dream with any of them. But whatever his dream, the entire crew agrees that this is only possible if Luffy becomes the king of the pirates, prompting Robin to remark about the missing piece – missing and unbelievably. The hard-to-find final poneglyph.
At the Naval Headquarters in the New World, naval officers are scrambling to locate Sabo’s message to the Kambukka Queendom. They soon find out the message and locate Sabo’s current location – The Kingdom of Lulucia. The Kingdom of Lulucia is apparently one of eight countries that have recently revolted, making it an ideal hiding place for the Flame Emperor.
The people of Kambakka Queendom are also in a frenzy at Sabo’s call. When they hear his voice, they jump with joy. However, Sabo gives up on Khushi and goes straight to the point. He tells the dragon that he did not kill the King Cobra, earning the relief and praise of his allies. However, Sabo further reports of seeing something terrible at Marijoa. While Sabo is transmitting his message, the chapter cuts to a giant object hovering over Lulucia’s entire kingdom.
One of the officers of the Navy orders to cut off communication between Sabo and the Kamabakka Queendom as Sabo reports something about the supposedly empty throne at Pangea Castle. Sabo fails to relay his full report as several columns of light rain fall down on the Kingdom of Lucia, wiping it out completely. The same naval officer then tells the communications team to report that there are no detected or intercepted calls, especially since the Kingdom of Lulucia never existed in the first place.
A few days later, thousands of Sunny have entered the climatic range of their island destination. Nami guesses his destination to be a fortified winter island, prompting Chopper to don the knit hat given to him by Otama. As they brave themselves for the cold harsh climate, Luffy notices a mysterious blob of water floating in the air. Nami quickly recognizes this as a giant hot heel that was heated and was being pushed upwards. Seeing the vast whims of nature in front of them, Nami tells Jimbei to get a thousand linens from there before the giant hot heels take them inside.
Before doing so, Luffy notices another strange thing within the hot heel. He sees a man under water. Sanji also supports his captain’s claim and further connects by hearing a woman’s scream from inside the blob. Zorro then steps up and offers to bite the hot heel. And before anyone complains, he’s already executed one of his sword-style attacks.
At the same time, Chopper comes outside to see what the commotion is. Unfortunately, the winds prove to be strong enough to blow it away. Luffy extends his rubber arm into action to capture the ship’s resident doctor. But instead of the chopper being pulled back into the ship, he is blown up by the chopper. Meanwhile, a small child pops out of hot heels, and it’s none other than Jewel Bonnie—one of the one pieceworst generation.
