a complicated contract

However, that doesn’t seem to be the whole story. Voice actor Kyle McCarley, who plays lead character Shigeo “Mob” Kageyama, shared that he’s not lending his talent mob psycho 100of the upcoming season, as Crunchyroll has declined his request to negotiate a possible contract with representatives from the Screen Actors Guild – the union of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-FTRA). This could be a problem for McCarley, who generally refuses to work on non-Union dubs.

“It has been made abundantly clear to me that in the case of season three of Mob Psycho 100, Crunchyroll is not going to produce that show on a SAG-FTRA contract,” McCarley said. This is despite voice actor claims that SAG-AFTRA will listen to any appropriate words suggested by Crunchyroll and be flexible in its approach. According to McCarley, he and “a good portion of the cast” agreed to certain terms for their respective contracts before they were sent directly to Crunchyroll’s Justin Cooke. McCarley personally emailed Crunchyroll President Rahul Purini, the company’s chief content officer, chief people officer, chief operating and executive officer, and Justin Cook, reassuring him that he only wanted to have one meeting.

McCarley stated that he was contacted by Crunchyroll on 8 September to see if he was able to reprise his role as Mob, but found the whole situation awkward due to the fact that the third season would premiere too soon. Was supposed to happen on October 5. Cook gave the voice actor a phone call yesterday to confirm that his request for a meeting was unfortunately denied. “I don’t know why they are so strongly anti-union that they wouldn’t even agree to have a conversation about it,” McCarley said. “I thought it was a very reasonable request, but you have to ask them why they seem to disagree.”
